NOTE:
Actually, what you are looking at is a view of Smirdan Street, toward the National Bank (which can be seen in this picture on the far left corner of the intersection- white building with golden domes), and points East. Lipscani, crosses Smirdan, right about where the National Bank is, or rather in front of the parked cars you see in the picture. I lived on Smirdan, in one of the higher buildings (Smirdan No. 18, which very well may be the building from which this picture was taken) from roughly 1979, until about 1990... - — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.213.231.253 (talk • contribs) (UTC)
- Yes, but present-day Romanian spelling is Smârdan (since the spelling reform, î is used only as the initial letter of a word), and the neighborhood (clear over to Piaţa Unirii) has come to be known as Lipscani, although of course the street of that name also retains the name. - Jmabel ! talk 08:29, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
